Simpler Recycling Mandate – What It Means for Businesses

As we step into 2025, the UK’s recycling landscape is set to undergo a significant transformation with the introduction of the Simpler Recycling mandate. This new legislation, enforced by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), aims to simplify waste management for businesses and increase recycling rates.

Starting from March 31st, 2025, businesses in England with 10 or more full-time employees will be legally required to separate general waste from food waste and dry recyclables, such as plastic, paper, card, glass, and metals. This includes non-domestic premises like schools and hospitals. Smaller businesses with fewer than 10 employees have until March 31st, 2027, to comply.

At SBS Waste Services, we are committed to helping businesses navigate these changes. By partnering with us, you can ensure that your waste paper, plastic, and cardboard are collected and recycled responsibly.
